Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my session?

Each session is tailored to your needs. In general, the focus areas for a full body massage are the back, the back of legs, front of legs, feet, arms, hands, and neck. Before beginning the massage experience, you will be asked questions about places of focus. For instance, if you are having upper back pain, more time will be spent on your upper back. This is your massage, and we want to help as much as possible, so the more information about what is going on with your body, the better.

How do I prepare for a massage?

In order to maximize the massage experience, it is helpful to be well-hydrated. You may want to avoid bigger meals and wear comfortable clothing. We also recommend using the restroom before your massage.

What are some post-massage and in-between massage care tips?

After a massage, it is essential to keep hydrating, as your body is releasing many toxins and your muscles have been worked out. In between massages, it can be helpful to stretch and continue movement of your muscles, applying heat to sore areas can keep your muscles from tightening up, and taking baths with epsom salts can help to relieve tension.

How often should I get a massage?

Depending on what is going on and your pain level, we generally recommend getting a massage once a month. If you are having more severe muscle tightening, we may recommend once a week or once every other week until you are in less pain. We offer massage packages for clients looking to receive massages more frequently.

What should I do during a massage?

This is your time to relax! People often ask if they should or shouldn’t talk during a massage, and the answer is whatever helps you relax. It’s important to keep breathing and letting go so your muscles will relax. It’s essential to communicate with your therapist about pressure and if you are comfortable so that we can maximize your experience on the table.

What do you wear during a massage?

During a massage, you can undress to your comfort level. Some people prefer taking their underwear off, and some people prefer to keep them on. It is entirely up to you; we drape your body modestly so you will be fully covered throughout the massage. If you prefer to keep other clothing on, we suggest loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and will use different techniques over your clothing.

When should I avoid getting a massage?

If you feel sick, please avoid getting a massage; we will always work with you to

reschedule your appointment. If you have a severe medical condition, such as a heart problem, you should ask your primary care doctor before getting a massage.
